According to University rules, department heads in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences are reviewed by departmental faculty at the midpoint of the first four-year term, at the conclusion of the first four-year term, and every four years thereafter. The following information is provided to encourage access and enhance the availability of information to ensure an open, transparent communication process throughout these periodic department head evaluations.

Faculty and Professional Staff Eligible to Participate in Department Head Evaluations
For the purpose of this review, the following faculty and professional staff are eligible to participate in the evaluation process for a discipline-specific department:
Faculty includes: On- and off-campus Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Texas AgriLife Research and Texas AgriLife Extension Service; Research Scientists and Research Professors; special groups of faculty who carry faculty-equivalent rank; and Lecturers.
Professional staff includes: individuals who hold faculty-equivalent positions to include individuals who may have their own programs and report directly to the department head [not to the department head through another person]. Post docs may be included only if they report directly to a department head and hold the title of research scientist [does not include members of the department head’s research lab staff, as appropriate].
Office staff, adjunct professors, visiting professors and assistant lecturers are ineligible to participate in the evaluation.
